Kindle Direct Publishing Related Accounts Suspension: How We Resolved It

Hello from Solver!

If your account is deactivated due to “related” to another account on Amazon KDP, you must receive the following notification:

“We are terminating your account effective immediately because you have multiple accounts, which is a violation of our Terms and Conditions. Also, this account is related to an account that was terminated due to violations of our Content Guidelines”.

The process of appealing on Amazon KDP is very similar to that on Amazon.com but has certain specifics.

Firstly, Amazon KDP categorically prohibits multiple accounts, unlike Amazon.com. If you register 2 or more accounts with the same documents/address/email and so on, be prepared that rather sooner than later, Amazon KDP will deactivate your account, even if both accounts are in good condition. There is only one valid opportunity to reinstate your account in such cases. Prove to Amazon KDP support that you are not the owner of the other account.

Secondly, Amazon KDP support takes account deactivation more seriously. You will not receive any information (account/author name, registration date, etc.) about the related account through the case or calls. The only correct way to find information about a related account on Amazon KDP is your assumptions about which account and how the Amazon system related your account to some other account.

Thirdly, forget about the Plan of Action if your account was deactivated due to being “related” to another account on Amazon KDP. Amazon KDP support does not require it from you. They don’t need any explanation of the reasons in Root Cause. This is prohibited by the Amazon KDP policy and therefore is meaningless. Also, you have no way to write really truthful Сorrective Actions. This is because, during the deactivation of your account on Amazon KDP, any possibility of changing the information on the account is suspended. Almost all the main functions of the account are suspended. In this regard, you will not be able to describe in the Corrective Actions that you “deleted address connection on your account”, since, technically, you cannot do this.

We hope that we were able to clarify the information about account deactivation due to “related” to another account on Amazon KDP. If you’re struggling with the appeal process, contact us. We will be glad to help you!
