How Wrongfully Creating Product Variations on Amazon May Affect Your Seller Account: Case Study

Greetings from the Solver team!

Recently, a client approached us with a rather unusual request: the reviews between the products in variations stopped sharing, and he asked if we could fix them. We were sure we could help, so we took the task and started working on it.

As it turned out in the course of communication with the Seller Support specialist, Amazon recorded unusual review activity on the client’s account and blocked the possibility of sharing feedback between ASINs in variations. The reason for the problem was the massive quantities of variations on the account and their subsequent separation. As a result, the number of reviews on products included in the variation first increased sharply, and then, after the variation was separated, decreased back. This was a trigger for the Amazon system, and our client was blocked from sharing reviews between ASINs in variations. It was also interesting that Amazon did not send any notifications about such a restriction. The client noticed this on his own, during the next variation creation.

We decided to contact support and explain that the massive creation of variations occurred due to an error that we have already realized and will not repeat again. In addition to contacting support directly, we also communicated through a third-party consumer rights service. Actually, through this service, after a detailed explanation of what the problem was, we managed to reach the escalation team, which considered our request in substance. After quite a long review, the client received a message that the problem was solved, and the reviews in variations were shared again.

If you have the same (or any other) problem with Amazon, please fill out the form on our website and we’ll do our best to help you.
