Amazon Selling Account Transfer on the European Marketplaces

Many of you reading this probably sell on Amazon European marketplaces. Today, we will talk about the European Amazon account transferring process.
Does Amazon give the right to transfer an account at all?

The question is quite controversial, but we found the answer for ourselves in the “Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement”. Amazon clearly states, “You may not assign this Agreement, by operation of law or otherwise, without our prior written consent. Any attempt to assign or otherwise transfer in violation of this section is void; provided, however, that upon notice to Amazon, you may assign or transfer this Agreement, in whole or in part, to any of your Affiliates as long as you remain liable for your obligations that arose prior to the effective date of the assignment or transfer under this Agreement.”

This means that by creating an Amazon account, you automatically become one party to the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement, where Amazon itself is the other party. Transferring your account means changing parties to the Amazon Services Business Solutions Agreement. So, Amazon sets the only and main rule for transferring an account to someone: “Always notify Amazon about any changes in the structure of your business and notify about the desire to transfer your account due to a change in this business structure.”

First, we have asked Amazon’s permission to start the transfer procedure. We opened a case in the account and described that due to Amazon’s advance notice policy, we would like to know Amazon’s requirements for account transfer. After Amazon approved the transfer, we started the “Transfer Legal Account” procedure and changed the email address of the new legal entity. After this, Amazon asked to log in with a new email address and go through the verification process.

The second stage was the re-verification of all account information to a new legal entity. All account data needed to be replaced, for which Amazon provided special forms to fill out. We filled out information about the business, its beneficiaries, and a new contact person. Preparing all the necessary documents for your business before the verification is important.

The second stage is loading documents to verify the data you entered including payment and personal info. There will also be a change in tax information.
