The Brand Registry on Amazon provides brands with a tool for effectively controlling and managing their trademarks on the platform. Proper user role management is a key aspect of this process. This post will delve into user roles, their functions, and the correct way to transfer rights in the Brand Registry.

 

  1. User Roles in the Brand Registry Dashboard
  • Administrator: The administrator role grants full access to all functions and settings of the Brand Registry dashboard. Administrators can add and manage other users, change their roles, and change brand settings.
  • Rights Owner: The rights owner role enables brand and product listing management. Rights owners can register new product listings, manage images and text, and file complaints about violations of their brand rights.
  • Registered Agent: A registered agent is a third-party entity you can authorize to represent your interests in the Brand Registry. This role can be useful when working with external agencies or consultants for brand management on Amazon.

 

  1. Functions and Capabilities of User Roles
  • Administrator:
    • User Management: Administrators can add, edit, and delete other users.
    • Listing Management: Full access to editing and managing product listings.
    • Complaint Management: Ability to file complaints about violations by other sellers.
  • Rights Owner:
    • Listing Management: Rights owners can register listings under the corresponding brand.
    • Image and Text Management: Edit information and images on the listings.
    • Complaint Management: Ability to file complaints about brand rights violations.
  • Registered Agent:
    • Brand Representation: Acting on behalf of brand and managing assets.
    • Interaction with Amazon: Works with Amazon as the official representative of your brand.

  1. Transferring Rights and User Roles
  • Adding New Users: Login to the Brand Registry, enter the “User permission” section, and create a new user. Note that the user you want to add must also have a BR (Brand Registry) account. Then, you’ll need to select several options in the user addition tab, such as entering the new user’s valid BR account email, username, and language, choosing a brand from the list if multiple trademarks are associated with this BR account, and then selecting the marketplace and roles for the user.
  • Transferring Roles: Go to the “User Management” section under “Settings,” find the user you want to change and modify their role accordingly.
