Can You Change a Brand on Your Listing on Amazon?

Can I change a brand on a listing?

Let’s imagine you rebranded the product and registered a new brand: a more suitable and catchy name for your products. Your existing listing is quite valuable to you, it has many reviews, and you would strongly prefer to avoid creating a new listing and going through the same work twice. This logically leads sellers to question whether they can change the brand on the listing.

However, Amazon has a rule in its Policies specifically addressing this:

  • You must not use an existing ASIN for a new product version. This includes changes in color, size, material, features, and product name. Instead, you are required to create a new listing for each new version of the product. For example, if you updated your product by adding an extra port to your power bank, according to Amazon’s policies, this product significantly differs from the previous version and should be listed as a new ASIN.

If you decide to rebrand a product as described in the situation above, you must create a new ASIN instead of updating the existing ASIN. Please note that this applies even if the product is unbranded (generic) and the product itself doesn’t change significantly after rebranding.

What should you do in case of errors and typos when entering the brand?

The product owner can request a correction of the brand. However, it is worth noting that the ability to change the brand on Amazon may be limited. Each specific case requires contacting Amazon’s support service and following its rules and procedures.

What can you change on the listing while staying within the policies? You can only update the product detail pages for better or more accurate product descriptions. For example, acceptable updates include additional information, clarifications, grammatical corrections, or removal of content that violates Amazon’s policy.
